Followers of fashion have witnessed some pretty outrageous looks emerge this season but two of the most important stories to make it on the street are distressed jeans and thigh boots (not necessarily together!).
These merchandise is not for that faint-hearted, but if there is a confidence to provide them a go this is a breakdown of both looks and the ways to cause them to become work for you.
Distressed jeans
Love or loathe them, distressed jeans are nevertheless big news. After Balmain's sellout spring/summer collection took the fashion world by storm the design seems to be sticking with us for about another season. Stars sporting this trend include Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Rachel Bilson, SJP, Ashley Olsen and Kate Bosworth. There are lots of solutions to use them if there is a confidence, out of your tender are a few tips from your Models Direct office:
Do:
o Keep the fit skinny and low rise o Pair your faded jeans which has a vintage rock chick vest/t-shirt o Add a leather biker jacket, military jacket, or polish the style using a crisp cut blazer o Dress your look to make it dancefloor-appropriate with ankle boots, studded/embellished high heel pumps or strappy platforms o Bunch the jeans up at the ankle or roll the hem to show off your footwear o Accessorise with studded or spiked jewellery
Don't:
o Be fearful of straps, skulls, ruffles and studs... the greater the higher! o wrangler jeans with florals or fussy prints o Pair with feminine blouses
Over-the-knee boots
Thigh boots have returned for that bold! After featuring heavily on the catwalk in 2010, thigh boots are being hailed because ultimate autumn/winter 2009 'must have' to the brave fashionista.
These risque boots come using a certain quantity of implied eroticism attached so you must put some thought into how you wear them. Here are a handful of tips that can help:
o Stay away from patent and select natural-looking materials like suede or genuine leather. o Go for muted shades of grey, brown as well as cream. o You don't have to wear this look having a stiletto heel - try some flats or select wedges. o Match your tights in your boots or tuck in skinny jeans or leggings that complement large for a leggier 'look'. o Tone down the rest of your outfit.
To gain a similar look, wear the tallest boots you already own, with over-the-knee socks layered over dark tights.
